Crazy But True Most Sunscreen Creams While Claiming To Protect You From The Sun, May In Fact Be Carcinogenic.

All Natural Is Not A Guarantee That You Are Protected

SPF 15, 30, 45 Makes No Difference In Protecting You From Skin Cancer If The Ingredients Themselves Are Carcinogenic.

The True Cause Of Skin Cancer Is Not The Sun. It Is Vegetable Oils In The Diet!

The following chemicals are all potentially toxic or carcinogenic ingredients in sunscreens; PABA, Oxybenzone, Titanium dioxide, Padimate-O or Octyl dimethyl PABA.

For the last 30 years we’ve all been bombarded with the same media LIES on health related matters. The media has not been reporting the truth on many topics for a long time. One such topic is the idea that the sun causes skin cancers! No, the sun does not cause skin cancers! A simple look into history will reveal the facts. The British people migrated to Australia, India and Africa, all sun drenched countries. These fair skinned people supposedly are at high risk for skin cancer if they are in the sun too much. Yet why is it that in the recent past, before processed vegetable oils ever came onto the scene they could be in these sun-drenched climates exposed to sun all day, for years on end and get NO skin cancer?

The reason is the sun is not the cause. It is the modern refined diet that people consume that is today causing skin cancers. It is the unsaturated refined vegetable oils in people’s diets that are causing skin cancers. When the refined vegetable oil is consumed it will become a part of your skin cells. These oils in the presence of the sun then cause free radical damage to the DNA of the skin cells. This then leads to a potential skin cancer. All commercial and even health food store vegetable oils have been heat or chemically processed. These oils are then degummed, deodorized, filtered of all plant antioxidants, phytochemicals and pigments and are dead. They have a long shelf life and are about as digestible and nutritious as plastic. They are great contributors to making gallstones and skin cancer.

The only healthy vegetable oils to use are cold processed, stored in nitrogen flushed brown or dark bottles and stored under refrigeration. The polyunsaturated vegetable oils you want to cook with. This turns them into free radical toxins. These oils include Walnut, Almond and Sunflower. The monounsaturated are safe to cook with at low temperatures and include Olive, Sesame and Peanut. The oils should be organic of course. We carry Organic Brand Cold Processed Polyunsaturated and Monounsaturated Vegetable Oils. Which include Walnut, Almond, Sunflower, Olive and Sesame Oils. I’ve tried them all and they are delicious and will promote very beautiful and moist skin.

Another vegetable oil winner that can replace alot of cooking oil needs is Extra Virgin Cold Processed and Centrifuge Extracted Coconut Oil. We carry a delicious smelling and tasting organic Coconut Oil. It is delicious to spread or bread or melt into food as well as to cook with.

Another healthy fat to use in the diet as a spread or to cook with is butter, preferably organic and grass fed and raw. In California we have access to organic grass fed raw butter. It is delicious as a spread, melted into cooked food or to cook with. Additionally organic animal fats from chicken, beef, pork, lamb and fish are all healthy fats as well. Eating healthy fats and eliminating the bad vegetable oils will protect you from skin cancer.

The sun is healthy for you and will boost your health to be exposed to it.

Would you like a sunscreen that is not itchy and does not contribute to skin cancer?

You can receive maximum sun protection from sunburns and non-toxic, non-carcinogenic ingredients in Sierra Madre Sunscreen. Sierra Madre Sunscreen is a delicious smelling healthy alternative with SPF 30.

Whatever you apply topically will be absorbed to some degree through the skin and into your body. So to your liver, which has to process and eliminate toxins, anything applied topically is equal to eating it. Most all sunblock skin creams contain some toxic or irritating ingredients, the effects of which may be a build up of toxins in your tissues. These uneliminated toxins may be a risk for causing systemic disease such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. With Systemic Lupus the immune system appears to be attacking the body. But what is really going on is the immune system is trying to remove the offending toxins from the tissues. It appears that the white cells are attacking the body but in reality the white blood cells are trying to remove toxins in the tissues. The simple healing process of a cut turning into a scab is proof that the body is programmed for self-preservation not self destruction.

Standard Sunscreen Ingredients and their effects:

Oxybenzone

In the Lancet we learn "It is often assumed that little or none of a topically applied substance is absorbed into the systemic circulation. We show that substantial amounts of an applied sunscreen, oxybenzone, are absorbed and subsequently excreted in human urine. Oxybenzone has low acute toxicity in animal studies yet little is know about its chronic toxicity and disposition after topical application in people. Oxybenzone is a benzophenone derivative commonly used throughout the world to make sun-products with especially high sun protection factors (SPF)."

"Our results suggest that sunscreens should not be the sole method of sun protection. It would be prudent not to apply oxybenzone to large surface areas of skin for extended and repeated periods of time, unless no alternative protection is available. There may be an additional concern for young children who have less well-developed processes of elimination, and have a larger surface area per body weight than adults, with respect to systemic availability of a topically applied dose."

What this means is it is toxic to some degree and may not detoxify out of the body fast enough to prevent toxic overdose.

Absorption of sunscreens across human skin: an evaluation of commercial products for children and adults. From the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology we learn:  Benzophenone-demonstrated sufficiently high penetration to warrant further investigation of its continued application.

The PABA story.

The qualities of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) became the favorite of sunscreens after World War II. Continued exposure to chemicals of this type could lead to autoimmune responses especially systemic lupus erythematosus and dermatomyositis. Discussion of these complications from the use of PABA took place at two meetings of the Dermatological Association of Australia in 1964 and 1965, and played a part in the slow withdrawal of PABA from sunscreens.

Chemical oxidation and DNA damage catalyzed by inorganic sunscreen ingredients.

From University of Oxford, Department of Biochemistry we learn. Titanium dioxide  is a known carcinogen. It has been noted to be an unsafe physical sunscreen because it reflects and scatters Ultra Violet B and Ultra Violet A in sunlight.  However, Titanium dioxide absorbs about 70% of Ultra Violet light, and in water this leads to the generation of hydroxyl radicals, which can initiate oxidations. Using chemical methods, we show that all sunscreen Titanium Dioxide samples tested catalyze the photo-oxidation of a representative organic substrate (phenol). We also show that sunlight-illuminated Titanium Dioxide catalyses DNA damage both in test tubes cultures and in human cells.

Sunlight-induced cancer of a common sunscreen ingredient.

From Knowland J, McKenzie EA, McHugh PJ, Cridland NA Department of Biochemistry we learn. We have tested the mutagenicity (cancer causing) of a UV-B sunscreen ingredient called Padimate-O or octyl dimethyl PABA, which, chemically speaking is identical to an industrial chemical that generates free radicals when illuminated. It is harmless in the dark but mutagenic in sunlight, attacking DNA directly. A commercial sunscreen containing Padimate-O behaves in the same way. This suggests that some sunscreens could, while preventing sunburn, contribute to sunlight-related cancers.

Sierra Madre Sunscreen Testimonies:

I am a very fair skinned person and need some sort of sun protection if I am going to be in the sun for more than 45 minutes.  I have gone on kayaking trips where I am in the sun for 8 hours at a time.  One trip I forgot my sunscreen and burned so bad I blistered. The next time I used the Sierra Madre Sun Cream and did not burn after 2 full days in the sun. It has a sun protection factor of 30.  It lasts about 4 hours if you are exposed to water so you need to reapply it.  I also just recently went to Maui and was in the sun everyday for 7 days in a row.  I used the Sierra Madre Cream again and I was amazed at how well it protected me.  Sometimes I didn’t even reapply it and I swam and still didn’t burn!  I won’t use the chemical based sunscreens and the Sierra Madre is chemical free and smells wonderful as it has aromatic essential oils in it.

Andrea Hare

I am olive skinned and yes I do burn. Normally 3 or more hours in midday sun causes me some significant burning and peeling. I refuse to use any of the toxic sunscreens out there. I always knew that the sunscreen ingredients in most products are toxic and potentially carcinogenic. I found Sierra Madre Sun Screen and after using it I had no burning and peeling everywhere I applied it. I am now delighted to have something so effective and so good smelling to offer my clients.
